Hinrichsen Ranch began in 1991 with a few donor cows, a dream of owning a herd of registered Angus cattle, the desire to market a successful program and a trust in God that He would guide the family in the right direction and provide what they needed.
The Hinrichsen program focuses on intense selections of AI bulls and embryo transfer work. The cow herd has been built by matching and crossing the right combinations of EPDs to continually improve the cattle. The emphasis is always on maternal traits, structural correctness and phenotype. These maternal standards include mothering and milking ability, udder quality, disposition, fertility and efficiency. Once the basics were consistently established, traits for growth and carcass merit were incorporated.
With all the changing technology and research, one thing remains the same for the cow herd – sound, efficient, maternal based cattle are always the foundation of the program.
Proven Herd
Utilizing genetics from the Abigail, Blackbird, Blackcap, Forever Lady, Georgina, Princess, Pure Pride and Queen proven cow families allows the herd to become even more consistent in production and efficiency. These cows can produce herd bulls, replacement females and show prospects.
